My former roommate once had a coyote face that smelled exactly like leather gloves.

Fur smells good too, the leather on the BACK of the fur is tanned, so you get the best of both!

The difference is that we don't usually eat the foxes and such that goes into making furs, but we do eat the cows that supply their hide to the leather. So it's actually just as good to use their hides for something, when we've killed them for meat. Or I just made a total arse of myself.

People bitch about fur more than leather because it's easier to pick on rich women than biker gangs.

It's just the cyanide and formeldehyde that's used to keep the flesh from decomposing.
Fur coats still have the skin "leather" under the fur so it should still have the smell I would imagine.

The bodies of animals killed for food are usually rendered and put into "pet" food so it is eaten too.
And leather isn't always from cows you eat. A lot of cows are killed in the Indian leather trade for the purpose of selling the skins (you may have noticed a lot of leather says "made in India"). And a lot of leather is from horses, goats, dogs, and cats.

Also eating flesh is just as unnecessary as wearing it. There are many ethical alternatives to both.
